Hello Eressea,
You are subscribed to the general announcment list for all Eressea
games. This message is for players of Eressea game 4 only, so if you
are not a player in that game, please ignore it.
Welcome again to Eressea game 4. We're going to find another name for
it, something that is not a number, see below. I hope the report
emails have reached everyone by now, and I apologize for the hiccups
in my scripts that may have caused you to get more than one. If you do
not have one, or have questions about anything, feel free to email me
at any time.
# First turn
The first turn will be on Saturday, deadline for the turn is at noon
Pacific time, or 18:00 CEST. I suspect that things will not go
smoothly then, either, and it may take a while before you have the
report.
ATTENTION: Players who drop out early are typically an issue for the
game balance. If you decide that you don't want to play, please send
me an email. Equally, if you do not send in your first two turns, I
will close your account. There is a waiting list of several players
who did not get a spot in this game, and I would rather give them a
spot than have an idle faction that becomes an easy target for
assassination.
# Rule change: Amnesty
The rules state that there is a general amnesty for the first 8 weeks,
in which nobody can attack another player. I am going to limit this to
3 weeks. The amnesty includes any NPC factions: They will not attack
you, nor will you be able to attack them.
# Bugs, Bugs, Bugs (not the bunny kind)
There are a few problems in the first report: Most importantly, units
did not start with any money. I am fixing this prior to the upcoming
turn, so please pretend that all of your units have the following
equipment: 2 horses, 5 wood, 1000 silver, 1 adamantium.
Even though the building that some of you can see is named
"Grundmauern", that is just a name. It is in fact a size 10
fortification, so building anything out of the wood you have will not
give you control of the region. In retrospect, that would have been
better if it was the case, so I am going to change the size of that
building to a size 2, such that building a guard house will wrest
control from the NPC faction. Note that I am not saying this is a good
opening strategy - I have tried to make the first turn something to
think about, and to discuss with your fellow players. ;-)
# Naming the game
I am tired of calling all these names by a number, and after some
discussion with a select group of patrons, I have decided on a naming
scheme for existing and future games: We will give them names starting
with a letter from the alphabet derived from their number (game 2 = B,
game 3 = C, etc) from a list of names choosen from a catalog. The
catalog of choice here is the region names of the original Atlantis
1.0 game that Eressea is based on (some of these names are still
present in the original Eressea). For game 4, this means our choices
are: Darm, Decca, Derron, Derwent, Deveron, Dezhou, Doedbygd, Doramed,
Dornoch, Drammes, Dremmer, Drense, Drimnin, Dromcollogher, Drummore,
Dryck, Drymen, Dunbeath, Duncansby, Dunfanaghy, Dunkeld, Dunmanus,
Dunster, Durness, and Duucshire.
IF YOU ARE A PLAYER IN GAME 4, please send me your suggestions for the
name of the game in an email with this subject line ERESSEA GAME 4
NAME, followed by up to three names in order of your preference. For
example, if you prefer Drense as a name, but would also accept
Doramed, and maybe Drimnin, this is the subject to use:
ERESSEA GAME 4 Drense Doramed Drimnin
I will collect all the answers and select a winner by instant runoff
voting. The deadline for selecting a name is also on Saturday, and if
I get no responses at all, I will select a name by royal decree.
I hope we're going to have a lot of fun together!
Enno.
